RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
-
Reconciliation/Resolution of Tax Audits.
- Relationship management between IRS and Taxpayers.
- Monitors compliance with statutory tax payment requirements.
- Tax accounting and Reporting.
- Creation and maintenance of database of Taxpayers.
- Identification of new Taxpayers.
- Business Development.
- Liaison with Zonal Controllers on the supervision of Tax Stations with
regard to revenue
generation and data collation and maintenance.
- Reconciliation with Accountant General Office for revenue collected.
- Resolution of all revenue matters on collection and accounting.
TAX ADUIT
- Raising tax assessments on tax payers.
- Allocation and evaluation of Tax assignments given to the Tax Audit Monitoring
Agents
(TAMA).
- Tax compliance check on tax payers.
- Tax reviews and investigations.
- External Audit with or without the collaboration of TAMA.
- Carries out Tax Compliance.
- Desk Audit Review of TAMA reports.
OTHER TAXES
- Creation of data base of taxable entities with regard to Property &
Other Taxes
through the enumeration of properties in the State.
- Assessment and collection of Capital Gains Tax and Stamp Duty.
- Audit and Collection of Withholding Taxes within and outside Ogun State.
- Identification of High Net worth and their Tax assessment collection.
- Road Taxes products development and automation, sales and monitoring.
- Motor Dealers spare parts dealers, motor mechanics, licencing and collection
of their
taxes.
- Coordinating all efforts for revenue generation from artisans, market women
&
professionals.
- Liaison with members of the unorganized private sector.
FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION
- Management, monitoring and reporting of capital, revenue
and expenditure.
- Custodian of assets of the Board and enforcement of financial policies,
procedures and
processes.
- General staff matters including engagement, promotion, discipline and disengagement.
- Disbursement and record keeping of all cheques, receipts and vouchers.
- Liaison with Budget office, and AG’s office on Capital and Recurrent expenditure.
INTERNAL AUDIT
- To test and strengthen
Internal Controls, and ensure accountability and proper record
keeping of revenue, expenditure and assets of the Service.
LEGAL SERVICES/BOARD SECRETARY
- Representing the Board on all Legal issues and court matters.
- Ensuring proper execution and safe custody of legal documents including
contract
agreements.
- Arranging meetings of Board members, preparing the minutes, agenda, notices,
proxies,
waivers or notices and subsequent correspondence in connection with
these meetings.
- Rending Legal Advice, Drafting and vetting all Legal draft agreement.
- Enforcement of all Tax liabilities.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
-
Establish and maintain electronic database of taxpayers for effective revenue collection
and monitoring.
- Liaison with Solution Producers on IT.
- Management of Data Centre of the Service.
- Recommendation and acquisition of Information System products and Services
including
Software Development.
- Technical support services to user Departments/ Tax Stations.
RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
-
To develop time tested work processes for the Service as standard operating procedures.
- To research into tax procedures, practices and administration within the
country and in
other civilized environment for adoption where feasible.
- Generation of Technical papers/reports on the Service and revenue generation.
TRAINING
-
Manpower and Capacity building for IRS staff.
- Skills acquisition through best tax practices.
CORPORATE SERVICES

Manpower and Capacity building for IRS staff.

TAX OFFICES
-
There are 33 [thirty-three] Tax Stations in the State each headed by a Tax Station
Manager. The Tax Station Managers are primarily responsible
for revenue generating and
accounting in their respective Tax Station. They supervise the activities
in their various
offices including in the management of staff and other
resources at their disposal. The Tax
Stations are grouped according to their locations into Six Zones namely Abeokuta, Ilaro,
Ota, Ijebu-Ode, Sagamu and Express headed by a Zonal Controller each.
The Zonal
Controllers report to the Relationship Management Directorate in the
Head Office.
